
New Delhi, Feb 28: Big Shows is organising a special cultural evening to commemorate 50 illustrious years of ghazal singing by Padma Shri maestro Hariharan on February 22, 2026, at Mavlankar Hall, Constitution Club of India, from 6:30 PM onwards. The event is supported by Aas NGO.
The landmark celebration will feature the launch of the book Ustad-e-Ghazal Hariharan, authored by noted writer and journalist Anand Kakkar. The book chronicles Hariharan’s extraordinary artistic journey and his invaluable contribution to the rich tradition of ghazal music.
The book launch ceremony will include an insightful discussion by eminent literary figures Mamta Kalia, Om Nishchal, and Pratap Somvanshi, who will share their perspectives on the book and reflect upon the cultural significance of Hariharan’s musical legacy.
On this special occasion, Hariharan’s new ghazal album will also be unveiled, marking yet another milestone in his distinguished five-decade-long career. The programme will be enriched with an interactive discussion, followed by a soulful live performance by the maestro himself, celebrating the timeless spirit of ghazal.
The evening will also witness the official announcement of the upcoming ghazal-based singing reality show Sartaj-e-Ghazal on Doordarshan.
This grand celebration promises to be a memorable tribute to one of India’s most revered and enduring voices in ghazal music.
