Cuttack, June 5 (UDN): The vision of transforming Cuttack into a vibrant, culturally rich, and future-ready urban centre received a significant boost during a high-level review meeting, where the District Collector presented a comprehensive roadmap titled “Developed Odisha, Dynamic Cuttack.”
The presentation outlined a broad development agenda aimed at strengthening infrastructure, enhancing civic amenities, preserving cultural heritage, promoting tourism, and driving economic growth in line with the state’s vision of Viksit Odisha, Viksit Bharat.
A major highlight of the discussions was the proposal to organize the historic Baliyatra festival on an international scale. Plans were deliberated to elevate the centuries-old maritime festival into a global cultural attraction through improved infrastructure, enhanced visitor facilities, wider international outreach, and the promotion of Odisha’s rich maritime heritage. Development projects related to Baliyatra, including improved connectivity, tourism infrastructure, public amenities, and beautification initiatives, were also reviewed.
The meeting also featured a detailed presentation on 25 key initiatives envisioned for the holistic development of Cuttack district. These include the establishment of a Silver Filigree (Tarakasi) Hub, renovation and modernization of the Dhabaleswar Temple and other prominent religious sites, rejuvenation of the Prachi River, development of textile and industrial parks, and the expansion of tourism and hospitality infrastructure. These initiatives are expected to create new economic opportunities, attract investment, and strengthen Cuttack’s identity as a major cultural and commercial centre.
During the review, the departmental secretary highlighted the remarkable achievements and performance of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC), emphasizing its role in improving public transportation, connectivity, and commuter services across the state. The progress made by OSRTC in modernizing transport services was presented as a key contributor to Odisha’s broader development goals.
The meeting underscored the importance of preserving Cuttack’s historical legacy while embracing modern urban development. Emphasis was laid on inter-departmental coordination and timely implementation of projects to ensure that the district emerges as a model of sustainable and inclusive growth.
The initiatives are expected to strengthen Cuttack’s position as a leading cultural, tourism, and economic hub, contributing significantly to Odisha’s development aspirations and the vision of a developed India. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to transforming Cuttack into a dynamic city that reflects the ambitions of a progressive and prosperous Odisha.
