New Delhi, Sep 7: Rural LPG consumers will now be able to book their next domestic cylinder after 25 days, offering relief to households that earlier had to wait longer for a refill.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has directed public-sector oil marketing companies to implement the revised 25-day booking gap with immediate effect. The new rule applies equally to consumers in rural and urban areas.
The decision comes after the LPG supply situation improved and pending refill requests declined significantly. The longer waiting period had earlier been introduced to manage pressure on LPG supplies.
With the latest change, consumers across the country will follow the same booking timeline. The move is expected to make LPG access more convenient for rural households and reduce the difficulty of planning household cooking-fuel needs.
Oil marketing companies have been asked to implement the revised rule across their distribution networks without delay.
The government’s decision also reflects the improvement in LPG availability and the easing of pressure on the supply system. For rural families, the shorter booking interval is expected to provide greater flexibility and make the refill process easier to manage.
The revised rule takes effect immediately.
