Centre Clarifies: No Approved Deep-Sea Energy Pipeline Between India and Gulf Countries

New Delhi, June 16: The Government of India has clarified that reports suggesting the existence of a finalized deep-sea energy pipeline project between India and Gulf countries are incorrect and not based on official confirmation.

Authorities stated that while India continues to explore avenues for strengthening energy cooperation and infrastructure partnerships with Gulf nations, no formal decision or approved proposal exists regarding a deep-sea energy pipeline at this stage.

Officials emphasized that discussions on long-term energy security, diversification of supply sources, and enhanced regional cooperation remain ongoing as part of India’s broader strategic energy engagement. However, any claims regarding an approved or operational pipeline project are speculative and do not reflect the current status of government policy.

The clarification comes in response to media reports and public speculation circulating about a large-scale subsea energy transmission project. The government has urged media outlets and stakeholders to rely only on verified and official sources for accurate information.

Reiterating its commitment to transparent communication, the government stated that any major infrastructure or energy partnership of national significance will be announced through appropriate official channels once formally approved.

India continues to prioritize energy security, affordability, and sustainability while engaging with international partners to explore mutually beneficial opportunities in the energy sector.
