New Delhi, June 2: India has dispatched a second tranche of medical assistance to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to strengthen ongoing efforts to contain and respond to Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa.
The latest consignment includes essential medicines, medical supplies, and public health support materials aimed at enhancing preparedness, improving case management, and supporting frontline healthcare systems dealing with the outbreak.
Officials said the assistance reflects India’s continued commitment to global health cooperation and its role as a reliable partner in addressing public health emergencies, particularly in developing regions.
The support has been extended through India’s broader framework of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief cooperation, under which New Delhi has been actively engaging with African nations and regional health institutions.
The Africa CDC has been coordinating response measures across affected regions, focusing on surveillance, early detection, treatment protocols, and containment strategies to prevent further spread of the virus.
India’s latest aid follows an earlier tranche of medical support, underscoring sustained engagement with African partners in strengthening healthcare capacity and emergency response systems.
Officials noted that such cooperation highlights the importance of global solidarity in tackling infectious disease outbreaks and reinforces India’s commitment to supporting international health security efforts.
The initiative is also aligned with India’s broader diplomatic outreach in Africa, which emphasises capacity building, public health collaboration, and long-term development partnerships.
