New Delhi, May 19: The Government has approved rail infrastructure projects worth approximately ₹1,200 crore to strengthen key sections of the Jammu–Katra and Howrah–Delhi railway corridors.
The projects aim to enhance capacity, improve operational efficiency, and ensure safer and smoother movement of passengers and freight across two of India’s most important railway routes.
The Jammu–Katra corridor, a vital link for pilgrims visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, is expected to benefit from upgrades that will help reduce congestion and improve service reliability.
On the Howrah–Delhi corridor, a critical artery for both passenger and freight traffic, the planned improvements are intended to boost line capacity and reduce travel bottlenecks, supporting faster and more efficient train operations.
The initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to modernise railway infrastructure and strengthen national connectivity across major transport networks.
