June 1: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called for widespread public participation in environmental conservation efforts, with a strong focus on tree plantation and water conservation across the state.
The Chief Minister emphasized that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and urged citizens, local bodies, educational institutions, and community organizations to actively engage in plantation drives and sustainable water management practices.
He highlighted the importance of increasing green cover to improve ecological balance and strengthen environmental resilience. He also stressed the need for efficient water conservation measures, including rainwater harvesting and the protection of natural water resources, to ensure long-term water security for future generations.
Statewide awareness campaigns and plantation activities are expected to be organized as part of the observance, encouraging people to plant saplings and adopt environmentally responsible habits. Authorities have planned initiatives aimed at improving afforestation, groundwater recharge, and sustainable resource usage.
Officials noted that these efforts align with the state’s broader environmental goals, including combating climate change impacts, enhancing biodiversity, and promoting sustainable development across urban and rural areas.
The Chief Minister reiterated that environmental protection cannot be limited to symbolic observances and requires continuous participation from every section of society. He expressed confidence that collective action will significantly contribute to strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s ecological future.
