May 25: India is significantly expanding its focus on solar, wind, and green hydrogen energy to reduce dependence on imported crude oil and strengthen long-term energy security, according to a former official of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited.
The official noted that the country’s transition towards cleaner energy sources is gaining momentum, driven by rising investments in renewable power projects and emerging technologies such as hydrogen-based fuel systems.
He said that increasing solar and wind capacity, along with the development of a green hydrogen ecosystem, will play a crucial role in diversifying India’s energy mix and reducing vulnerability to global oil price fluctuations.
The shift is also expected to support India’s broader climate goals while promoting sustainable industrial growth and energy self-reliance.
Experts believe that continued policy support, infrastructure development, and private sector participation will be key to accelerating this transition in the coming years
