Firozabad,Apr20(BNP): A massive fire broke out at the 150-year-old vegetable market in Katra Bazaar of Shikohabad, reducing more than 60 shops to ashes and engulfing several nearby establishments, including a garment store. The incident occurred late on Saturday night, and by the time locals were alerted, most of the shops had already been destroyed.
Upon receiving information, six fire engines rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after nearly four hours of intensive firefighting operations.
While no casualties have been reported so far, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, preliminary investigations indicate that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze. Teams from the Revenue and Fire Departments have begun assessing the extent of the damage.
The incident has caused significant losses to traders, many of whom have lost their shops and livelihoods in the fire.
