Jharsuguda ,May 30: To accelerate the overall development of the Brajrajnagar Municipality area, Odisha’s Hon’ble Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several developmental projects at Brajrajnagar.
During the event, the Minister laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited modern “Atal Bus Stand” in Brajrajnagar. The project, approved under the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) 2023–24 plan, will be constructed by the Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation. The total estimated cost of the project is ₹32.78 crore, and the work is targeted for completion by August 2027.
On this occasion, foundation stones were laid for 82 new projects worth ₹23.48 crore to further speed up the development of Brajrajnagar. Additionally, 12 completed projects constructed at a cost of ₹2.77 crore were inaugurated and dedicated to the public.
Among those present at the event were Jharsuguda Collector Kunal Motiram Chahnan, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad and Project Director Biswaranjan Nayak, Acting Chairperson Krishna Gopal Sitani, Brajrajnagar Municipality Executive Officer Chandramani Swain, SDPO Chintamani Pradhan, Housing Board Deputy Manager Santosh Kumar Dalei, Regional Transport Officer of Jharsuguda Pranay Kumar Mishra, and OSRTC District Manager Chinta Pal, along with several other senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Suresh Pujari said that the proposed bus stand would become a major milestone in the infrastructure development of the region. The modern bus stand will be built over approximately 3.30 acres of land, with a total constructed area of 9,219.32 square metres.
The facility will provide 19 world-class amenities for passengers and drivers, including spacious parking, EV charging sheds, lifts, CCTV security systems, dormitories (rest houses), and a food court.
The Minister further stated that the all-round development of Brajrajnagar is one of the key commitments of the government. He said the projects inaugurated and launched today would strengthen the city’s infrastructure and create new opportunities for growth and employment for local youth.
