Ahmedabad, May 13: Former High Court judge Biren Vaishnav has been appointed as the Lokayukta of Gujarat and was sworn in at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan.
The oath of office was administered in the presence of senior state officials, marking his formal assumption of charge as the state’s anti-corruption ombudsman.
As Lokayukta, Vaishnav will be responsible for examining complaints of corruption, maladministration, and abuse of authority involving public servants and state functionaries in Gujarat.
His appointment is expected to strengthen institutional oversight and reinforce accountability mechanisms within the state administration.
