Hyderabad, April 14: India’s largest iron ore producer, NMDC, commemorated the 135th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, at its corporate office in Hyderabad as well as across all its project sites nationwide.

The event was led by Amitabh Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director, NMDC, along with senior leadership including Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical); Jaideep Dasgupta, Director (Production); and Anurag Vippal, Director (Finance). Employees across locations paid heartfelt tributes to Dr. Ambedkar on this significant occasion.
The event was organized by the NMDC HO SC/ST Employees Welfare Association, with enthusiastic participation from employees and officers. The programme saw active involvement from B. Hanumantha Rao, President, and C. Annapurna, General Secretary, along with other office bearers who played a key role in its successful execution.
The programme commenced with floral tributes and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait, followed by a prayer meeting in honour of his life and enduring legacy.
Speaking on the occasion, Amitabh Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC, said,
“Dr. B.R. Ambedkar reminded us that liberty, equality, and fraternity are not separate ideals, but a way of life that forms the strong foundation of our democracy. His words remain deeply relevant in today’s rapidly evolving world. His vision inspires us to ensure that true progress is inclusive and just. At NMDC, we remain committed to upholding these ideals and fostering a culture where dignity, fairness, and shared progress guide our path forward.”
Inspired by the timeless ideals of Dr. Ambedkar, NMDC reaffirmed its commitment to building an inclusive and equitable society in line with his vision. The celebration concluded with a vibrant cultural programme, followed by the distribution of school bags to children—reflecting NMDC’s continued focus on promoting education and equal opportunities.
