May 28: Adding another feature to the cap of India’s most ambitious spiritual landmarks, Mr Naresh Kumar Kumawat is about to complete a monumental statue of Lord Hanumanji at the Koradi Mandir, Nagpur. This statue is being constructed as a timeless symbol of devotion. It will also represent strength, faith and excellence of Indian craftsmanship. This project is likely to become a major cultural and pilgrimage destination for devotees and visitors from across the world.
The colossal structure reaches an impressive height of 202 Ft. from Ground level. The main statue itself stands 162 Ft. 7 In. from feet to crown. This places it among the tallest statues of Lord Hanumanji globally. A project like this can be a remarkable demonstration of the integration of traditional sculptural heritage and advanced engineering.
The statue casting work has been completed and finishing activities are in progress.
The project is expected to be completed by June 2026. The grand inauguration is anticipated to take place in the same month by the Hon’ble Union Home Minister of India, Amit Shah.
The Hon’ble Shri Chandra Shekhar Bawankule Ji, Revenue Minister of Maharashtra State, was the visionary for this project, under whose inspiration and guidance the ambitious project was shaped. The statue is being sculpted and designed by internationally acclaimed sculptor Naresh Kumar Kumawat of Matu Ram Art Centres. He is renowned for creating monumental sculptures and spiritual installations across India and abroad.
Sharing his thoughts on this momentous occasion, Mr Naresh Kumar Kumawat said, “This statue is beyond a sculptural creation. It is a spiritual expression of faith, devotion, and India’s timeless artistic heritage. Every element of the monument has been crafted with deep reverence and engineering precision. Our vision was to create a landmark that would inspire generations to come.”
The project is sponsored by the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority. The monument has been engineered for long-term durability and structural stability, as it is constructed using a Reinforced Cement Concrete structural system with RCC skin. The external finish incorporates Zinc Metallising Coating along with a Monolithic Coloured Protective Coating. It also uses high-grade water-based acrylic paint to ensure resilience against diverse climatic conditions.
Another noteworthy feature of the monument is the 67 Ft tall Gadda (Mace) held in the left hand of Lord Hanumanji. This makes it the tallest Gadda ever created to be included in a monumental sculpture anywhere in the world. The structure is also being nominated for inclusion in the Guinness World Records due to its enormous size and engineering achievements. Project specifications further underline the engineering magnitude of the initiative. The total structural weight of the statue is 2981.6 Metric Tonnes with the usage of 1178 Cubic Meters of Concrete and 140 Metric Tonnes of Steel.
The Hanumanji Statue at Koradi is poised to emerge not only as a spiritual icon for generations to come but also as a landmark representing India’s artistic excellence, cultural pride, and engineering capability.
