ITC Maurya Marks World Environment Day with Sustainability Led Experiences and Community Initiatives

June 5 : Marking World Environment Day 2026, ITC Maurya celebrates its commitment to Responsible Luxury through a series of initiatives that bring together environmental awareness, collective action and mindful living.

Home to one of the world’s first paraboloid solar concentrators in the hospitality sector, ITC Maurya continues to champion innovative solutions that minimise environmental impact while delivering the distinctive experiences for which it is renowned.

Recognised as the world’s first LEED Platinum hotel for Existing Buildings and a LEED Zero Water certified property, the hotel has adopted a comprehensive approach towards resource conservation. Rainwater harvesting, advanced water recycling systems, renewable energy integration, EV charging infrastructure and efficient operational practices collectively contribute to reducing its environmental footprint while supporting long term sustainability goals.

This philosophy is reflected in SunyaAqua, the hotel’s Zero Mile Water programme, through which premium drinking water is purified and bottled within the premises. By reducing transportation impact and dependence on single use plastics, the initiative demonstrates how thoughtful choices can be seamlessly integrated into everyday experiences. Across its celebrated culinary destinations, an emphasis on locally sourced produce and seasonal ingredients further reinforces this commitment, creating dining experiences that are mindful, distinctive and connected to the region.

Extending its commitment beyond hotel operations, employees will participate in a plantation drive in vicinity on 5th June, contributing to the city’s green cover and encouraging collective action towards environmental conservation.

Complementing these initiatives is “Paludarium: Where Land Meets Water,” a specially curated installation showcased in the lobby. Bringing together land, water, lush plant life and aquatic elements within a single ecosystem, the Paludarium offers a living reflection of nature’s delicate balance. Designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for interconnected ecosystems, the installation invites guests to pause, observe and reconnect with the natural world.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amaan Kidwai, Area Manager Luxury Hotels (North) & General Manager, ITC Maurya, said:

“At ITC Maurya, sustainability finds expression as an intuitive dimension of everyday luxury, where even the simplest guest experiences contribute to a larger climate-conscious vision. Guided by ITC Hotels’ Responsible Luxury philosophy, our approach centres on seamlessly integrating mindful choices into the guest journey, ensuring that responsibility and refinement exist in perfect harmony.”

Through these initiatives, ITC Maurya continues to demonstrate how environmental consciousness can be seamlessly integrated into everyday luxury, creating experiences that are thoughtful, responsible and meaningful.
