New Delhi, May 11: India’s next major growth cycle will be powered by a combination of modern rail infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing, and artificial intelligence, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Monday.

Speaking on the country’s long-term infrastructure strategy, Vaishnaw said these three sectors are set to play a central role in strengthening India’s economic foundation and accelerating its transition into a technology-driven economy.

He highlighted that ongoing investments in railways are improving connectivity and efficiency across regions, while the push for semiconductor manufacturing is aimed at reducing dependence on imports and building a self-reliant electronics ecosystem.

Vaishnaw also underlined the growing importance of artificial intelligence, noting that AI technologies will be crucial in boosting productivity, improving governance, and supporting innovation across industries.

According to him, the convergence of these sectors will shape India’s future infrastructure landscape and support sustained economic growth in the coming years.

The minister added that India’s development strategy is increasingly focused on building capabilities in advanced technologies while continuing to strengthen traditional infrastructure systems.
