Kolkata, May 11: The newly formed West Bengal cabinet led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari held its first meeting on Monday, taking key policy decisions focused on border security and public healthcare.
One of the major decisions includes allocating land for the construction of barbed wire fencing along the Bangladesh border, to be undertaken in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF). The move aims to strengthen border management and improve security infrastructure in sensitive areas.
The cabinet also approved the implementation of the Centre’s flagship health insurance programme, Ayushman Bharat, marking a significant step toward expanding healthcare coverage in the state.
Officials said the decisions reflect the government’s early focus on strengthening security arrangements and improving access to affordable healthcare services across West Bengal.
