Ganjam district achieved a major milestone by securing the position of the second-best district panchayat in the country. This recognition reflects its sustained efforts in implementing effective development programmes, improving public service delivery, and advancing community welfare initiatives at the district level.
In addition, multiple gram panchayats from Odisha, including Potolampur, Paduan, Hatibandha, and Mandar, were also recognised for their outstanding performance. These panchayats were awarded for their work in areas such as rural infrastructure development, sanitation improvement, water conservation, healthcare access, and social welfare activities.
The recognition underscores the growing role of panchayati raj institutions in driving local development through active community participation and decentralised governance. Officials noted that such achievements reflect the success of targeted government schemes combined with strong implementation at the grassroots level.
The awards also highlight Odisha’s continued focus on inclusive rural growth, where local bodies are playing a key role in improving living standards, ensuring better access to services, and promoting sustainable development practices across villages.
Overall, the achievement at the national level is seen as a reflection of strengthened local governance systems and the commitment of rural institutions in driving positive change at the village level.
