Bhubaneswar, May 20: Intense heatwave conditions swept across Western Odisha on Wednesday, with several towns recording temperatures above 41°C by 11:30 am, according to weather scientist Umashankar Das.
Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest location, touching 42.4°C, while Sambalpur and Hirakud recorded 41.0°C during the same period.
Other regions also experienced rising heat, with Keonjhar recording 37.6°C, Rourkela 37.4°C, Chandbali 36.6°C, Balasore 36.2°C, and Bhubaneswar reaching 35.6°C by late morning.
The temperature data, shared by Das on social media platform X, highlights the sharp rise in daytime heat across the state.
He advised residents to take precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.
