The funding will accelerate the construction of pucca houses for eligible beneficiaries, helping bridge housing gaps in rural areas while improving living standards and social security for economically vulnerable households.
Officials said the allocation is expected to support the timely completion of housing projects, generate employment in rural areas, and strengthen local economies through increased demand for construction materials and allied services.
The PMAY-G scheme has emerged as one of the government’s flagship social welfare initiatives, transforming the lives of millions of families by replacing temporary shelters with permanent homes equipped with basic amenities.
The latest approval underscores the government’s continued focus on inclusive development, ensuring that the benefits of growth reach the most remote and underserved communities. By expanding access to secure housing, the initiative is expected to improve quality of life, enhance financial stability, and create new opportunities for rural households.
As India advances toward its Housing for All target, the enhanced financial support is set to accelerate progress on rural housing infrastructure while contributing to broader goals of poverty reduction and sustainable development.
