Danfoss India Focuses on Next-Gen High-Pressure Water Mist Solution in Fire Safety

Danfoss India Focuses on Next-Gen High-Pressure Water Mist Solution in Fire SafetyIndia Danfoss Fire Safety A/S, a division of the global Danfoss Group, successfully showcased its innovative high-pressure water mist technology at the recently concluded Fire and Security India Expo (FSIE) 2024. The System offers intelligent and reliable fire protection for buildings, industrial facilities, and tunnels, requiring significantly less water and providing rapid fire suppression.

The SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist system was the centrepiece of Danfoss Fire Safety exhibit, demonstrating the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in fire protection.

Mr. Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India, highlighted, “Danfoss India is committed to providing sustainable fire safety solutions in alignment with India’s evolving safety standards. Our SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist system not only optimizes water usage but also ensures that critical facilities like data centres remain operational during fire incidents. We stand as a testament to innovation, offering a robust solution that fits both the aesthetic and functional demands of modern infrastructure while maintaining the highest compliance standards. We are excited to showcase our technologies at the FSIE 2024 and engage with industry professionals to further advance the burgeoning need for fire safety in India, with our growing cities and infra developments.”

Danfoss SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist fire protection system, was recently implemented in the Samruddhi Expressway Tunnel, located in Maharashtra, India. This 8-kilometer, 3-lane tunnel, a vital link between Mumbai and Nagpur, features a cutting-edge fire protection system, courtesy of Danfoss Fire Safety’s SEM-SAFE®, a high-pressure water mist system. This technology efficiently suppresses fires and mitigates their impact, complemented by 26 cross-passages for emergency evacuation and 54 ventilation fans per tube for optimal airflow and smoke clearance, ensuring a safe and reliable passage through the Western Ghats mountains in under 10 minutes. This project made a significant stride in fire safety technology and infrastructure development, by creating a safe environment for people to quickly escape in case of any fire situation and safeguarding the tunnel structure.

The Danfoss SEM-SAFE system also uses upto 80 percent less water than other water-based fire suppression / extinguishing technologies. Furthermore, it is the only high-pressure water mist manufacturer with 68°C rated data centre nozzles, which can reduce the cooling demand in data centres and minimise the energy consumption for cooling. There is also zero risk of oil contamination thanks to ultra-clean pump technology, with no requirement for oil.

Mr. Qusai Alasad, ME & India Regional Manager Global Manager-Transportation Infrastructures, Danfoss Fire Safety, stated, “While water has been used for centuries to combat fires, water mist represents a breakthrough in fire fighting. It offers excellent fire suppression properties by capturing soot particles, reducing radiant heat, and quickly lowering temperature to acceptable levels. Our high-pressure water mist system effectively combines the suppression effect of gas and traditional sprinklers, safeguarding both people and equipment without requiring additional installations. Our participation in FSIE reflects Danfoss’s commitment to bringing pioneering fire safety solutions to India.”

Danfoss Fire Safety’s participation at FSIE 2024 underscores their dedication to delivering cutting-edge fire protection solutions that meet the unique needs of the Indian market. The FSIE offered a forum to learn more about the SEM-SAFE® system and explore how it can transform fire safety standards across diverse applications, from modern high-rises to critical infrastructure.
