Mumbai, April 29, 2024: In a remarkable display of community engagement and sportsmanship, the Play and Shine Foundation, in collaboration with the Target Publications Pvt. Ltd and Eleanor Foundation orchestrated a memorable charity beach rugby event at Mahim Reti Bandar beach. The event not only aimed to promote the values of sportsmanship but also advocated for the widespread adoption of sports such as rugby among the youth in Mumbai.
The day commenced with a beach clean-up initiative, showcasing the commitment of over 250 children from diverse backgrounds to environmental conservation. This initiative underlined the collective dedication to nurturing a sustainable environment and instilling a sense of responsibility towards nature.
The main event, the charity beach rugby tournament, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 20 teams, including the dynamic Kolhapur team, as they compete for victory. The winning team received trophies, a cash prize of ₹5000/-, and a plethora of gifts sponsored by various brands, intensifying the exhilaration and competitiveness of the tournament. Notably, Target Publications generously donated books to all the winners who participated in the event, further underlining their commitment to holistic development and education.
Notable figures from the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) underscored the importance of civic engagement and democracy through the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme, enriching the event with a sense of civic responsibility.
