New Programme Offers In-Depth Training and Insights into Criminal Behavior and Forensic Investigation
Mumbai, June 20, 2024 – The NMIMS Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts (JDSOLA) has announced the launch of its new Postgraduate Diploma in Investigative & Forensic Psychology. This cutting-edge programme, offered by the Department of Psychology, is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to understand the psychological underpinnings of criminal behavior and enhance their investigative capabilities.
The PG Diploma in Investigative & Forensic Psychology, available at the Mumbai campus, is a one-year programme. It delves into the application of psychological theories and research within forensic contexts such as police investigations, courtroom proceedings, and correctional services. Students will gain insights into what drives individuals to commit crimes and how psychology is integral to the investigative process. The curriculum focuses on developing analytical techniques to evaluate various criminal behaviors, offering a comprehensive understanding of complex issues like the psychology of serial killers and the reliability of child witnesses.
The small cohort size of just 30 students ensures personalized attention and support from peers and faculty. The teaching team brings expertise across a wide range of investigative and forensic topics, providing students with valuable insights from both research and practical perspectives. The programme also features expert guest speakers and opportunities for hands-on learning through mock crime scenes and courtrooms.
Graduates of this programme will be well-equipped to explore various career paths in forensic psychology, benefiting from the balance of investigative and forensic psychology topics and skills. The primary goal is to contribute to understanding why individuals engage in criminal behavior and how they can be managed and rehabilitated back into society.
Eligibility for the PG Diploma in Investigative & Forensic Psychology includes a graduate degree in Psychology, Forensic Science, Pharmacy, any discipline of Science, Journalism, Media, specialization in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Cognitive and Behavioral Science, MD in Psychiatry, MBBS, or being a Police or Military Personnel from a recognised college/university with a minimum of 50% merit. Admission will be through an online entrance test.
