Amity University Haryana (AUH) has once again showcased its commitment to fostering the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie with the successful culmination of the Inter Amity Institutions Sports Meet, ‘Sangathan.-2023. This month-long extravaganza celebrated the birthday of Hon’ble Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, the visionary Founder President of Amity.
Sangathan 2023 started on September 12, 2023, with great enthusiasm and passion, witnessing the participation of students. Over 400 medals were awarded to exceptional athletes who demonstrated outstanding talent throughout the event.
In his address, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of AUH, Prof. (Dr) P.B Sharma, passionately conveyed the message that Sangathan goes far beyond just being a sporting event; it is a powerful crucible for shaping the character and values of the university’s students. Prof. Sharma emphasized that Sangathan serves as a great opportunity for the young participants to not only hone their physical abilities but also develop essential life skills. Discipline, ethics, professional morals, and universal human values are at the core of this transformative experience. Prof Sharma reminded the young students that they are the future of this great nation and as such their character skills of truthfulness , integrity and firm commitment to Sustainability and above all their ability to excel as a team shall determine their success.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Vikas Madhukar in his address underscored that Sangathan is a platform where the university’s students discover and nurture their potential beyond the confines of the classroom. He emphasized that it’s a place where they learn the value of perseverance, teamwork, and resilience, attributes that are not only pivotal in sports but also in academic and professional pursuits.
Squadron Leader S.K. Singh, the Chairman of the Sangathan Committee, expressed his heartfelt gratitude during the Vote of Thanks. He acknowledged the athletes who graced this occasion with their dedication and unwavering perseverance. Additionally, he extended a special mention to the dedicated core committee members for their relentless hard work and unwavering commitment to this event.
This year’s Sangathan featured intense competition in 46 different sports events for both men and women, including basketball, volleyball, kabaddi, cricket, kho-kho, athletics, and more. In addition, there were 14 faculty and staff events and 13 AIMC (Amity Indian Military College) events, making Sangathan a prominent fixture in the landscape of university sports events in the country.
The event brought together over 1000 students and faculty members, graced by the esteemed presence of AUH’s Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) P.B. Sharma; Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Madhukar; Dr. A.K Nagpal; Chairman, Amity Medical Education Board, Sangathan Chairman- Squadron Leader S.K Singh; Registrar- Dr Ravi Manuja; DSW-Maj Gen Dhull, Prof. (Dr) Vijay K. Bhardwaj-Controller of Examinations; Deputy Deans Students Welfare (Dy DSW)- Prof. (Dr) Sanjna Vij and Prof Ranjana Kothari; sports officers faculty Dr PritishKhare and Dr Priyanka along with Deans, Directors, faculty, staff, and the student from various institutes of AUH in great numbers.
The concluding function on October 17, 2023, witnessed a spectacular display of vigour during the March Past, with 13 contingents and over 500 students representing more than 20 different academic disciplines, including Science and Engineering, Biotechnology, Communications, Behavioural Sciences, Pharmacy, and many others.
Following intense inter-departmental competitions, Amity Institute of Behavioural Sciences and Amity Institute of Clinical Psychology emerged as the overall Champions of Sangathan 2023.
Sangathan has once again demonstrated its prominence in promoting a holistic development approach, bringing students and faculty together in the spirit of sports, unity, and excellence. The event has left an indelible mark, fostering a culture of sportsmanship and camaraderie within the Amity community.
