Greater Noida , June 30: One of the best examples of critical care and excellence in the field of medicine is that doctors at Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Omega-1, Greater Noida, have managed to save a 34yearold lady who was admitted to the hospital in a very critical condition due to alleged Celphos poisoning.Saving the Life of a 34-Year-Old Patient Affected with Severe Celphos Poisoning and Critical Heart Condition by ECMO Support at Yatharth Hospital

She was admitted to the hospital with cardiogenic shock, severe metabolic acidosis, and severely failing heart function. After examination, it was found that the function of her heart had fallen to a very critical level of 10%.

Understanding the seriousness of the case, the multidisciplinary team of critical care physicians headed by Dr. Ved Prakash, Director and HOD, Department of CTVS  decided to employ a resuscitation protocol along with advanced life support. The patient was put on ECMO treatment, which is an intensive technique that helps maintain life artificially and supports both the heart and lung function temporarily until recovery occurs.

The patient was under continuous observation and critical care treatment comprising of mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support, metabolic correction, and intensive care specialist assessment.

In this regard, Dr. Ved Prakash stated that

Celphos poisoning is one of the worst cases of poisonings that can happen with the individual. It leads to fatal damage to the heart of the individual along with multiple organ failures. In this particular patient, there was very bad prognosis and very depressed heart functions. Early intervention with ECMO and coordinated treatment through multiple disciplines played a very important part in her recovery.”

Despite the severity of the poison and the low probability of recovery from the case, the patient was able to recover due to the effective treatment.

This exemplary case proves that Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital is well adept at handling any complicated emergency and further strengthens their commitment to providing advanced and evidence-based critical care using cutting-edge technology.
