HPCL Strengthens LPG Distribution Discipline, Ensures Seamless Fuel Supply Amid Rising Demand

Kolkata, April 13: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has reinforced its commitment to operational excellence and safety by tightening discipline across its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution network, ensuring reliable and efficient energy delivery during a period of heightened demand.

Between April 1 and April 12, 2026, HPCL recorded robust fuel consumption trends, with petrol sales reaching 4,60,508 KL and diesel sales at 8,34,126 KL. To meet this surge, the company activated its extensive logistics network, dispatching over 80,529 tankers and facilitating the movement of more than 12 lakh KL of fuel across its nationwide retail network. This large-scale operation underscores HPCL’s ability to maintain supply continuity with speed and coordination.

In the LPG segment, HPCL supplied 154.2 lakh cylinders during the same period, ensuring consistent availability for households. The company also expanded last-mile accessibility by distributing 3.32 lakh 5 Kg Free Trade LPG cylinders and 0.21 lakh 2 Kg cylinders, particularly benefiting migrant populations and underserved communities.

Driving efficiency through technology, HPCL reported that 99.5% of LPG bookings were conducted via digital platforms, including IVRS, SMS, WhatsApp, and HP PAY. Enhanced delivery mechanisms, such as DAC/OTP-based authentication, have further strengthened transparency and reliability in customer service.

To safeguard consumer interests, HPCL intensified its vigilance efforts. Between March 14 and April 12, 2026, the company conducted 4,897 inspections, took action against 110 distributors, and suspended 30 distributorships. In collaboration with other oil marketing companies and state authorities, 660 raids were carried out, leading to 41 FIRs and the seizure of 3,674 LPG cylinders. These actions highlight HPCL’s zero-tolerance stance toward malpractices.

The company emphasized that fuel and LPG supplies remain stable across its network. Any temporary pressure in select areas is attributed to short-term demand spikes and precautionary buying rather than systemic shortages. Consumers are advised to avoid panic buying and rely on official communication channels for accurate updates.

With a strong focus on operational scale, digital innovation, and regulatory enforcement, HPCL continues to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient energy delivery across India, even during peak demand periods.
