Surya Roshni Reinforces Safety-First Culture with Extended Initiatives at Malanpur Facility

Building on the momentum of its recently concluded Safety Month, the company extended its efforts through the observance of National Fire Service Week, focusing on heightened preparedness amid seasonal risks such as fire hazards, heat stress, and operational vulnerabilities.

During Safety Month, Surya Roshni implemented a comprehensive set of measures including mock drills for fire and gas leak scenarios, safety audits, and structured training programs covering electrical safety, emergency response, first aid, and permit-to-work systems. These efforts were further supported by shop-floor engagement initiatives such as SOP awareness sessions, hazard identification (HIRA), and department-specific safety briefings.

As part of National Fire Service Week, the company conducted detailed fire safety drills simulating real-world scenarios, along with live demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers, hydrant systems, and coordinated emergency response protocols. These exercises tested end-to-end readiness—from incident reporting and control room activation to medical response and fire tender deployment—ensuring seamless coordination during emergencies.

Employees also participated in fire safety oath-taking and awareness sessions, reinforcing a culture of accountability and vigilance. Collaboration with safety experts and external agencies further enhanced practical knowledge, particularly in managing gas and chemical-related risks.

Beyond operational safety, Surya Roshni emphasized employee well-being through initiatives focused on mental health, yoga, and fostering a responsible workplace environment. Governance mechanisms were strengthened through Safety Committee reviews, compliance tracking, and participation in structured frameworks such as SHREE Portal-linked programs.

Commenting on the initiative, Vasumitra Pandey, CEO – Lighting & Consumer Durables, Surya Roshni, said,

“At Surya Roshni, safety is not just a compliance requirement, but a core value embedded in our operations and culture. Our approach is continuous and adaptive—especially in high-risk periods like summer—where preparedness and awareness become even more critical.”

Through these sustained efforts, Surya Roshni Limited continues to build a holistic safety ecosystem where awareness, preparedness, and employee empowerment come together to drive resilient and responsible manufacturing operations.
