May 25: India’s ambitions to rapidly expand artificial intelligence (AI) adoption will require significant strengthening of power infrastructure and supply chain networks, according to a recent report.
The report highlights that large-scale AI deployment depends heavily on reliable electricity, advanced data infrastructure, and efficient hardware supply systems. As AI technologies become more integrated across industries, the demand for energy-intensive data centres and high-performance computing is expected to rise sharply.
Experts noted that maintaining uninterrupted power supply and building resilient supply chains for critical components such as semiconductors, servers, and networking equipment will be essential to support long-term AI growth in the country.
The report also emphasized that India’s expanding digital ecosystem and growing investment in AI present strong opportunities, but infrastructure readiness will play a key role in sustaining future growth and competitiveness.
Strengthening energy capacity, improving logistics, and accelerating technology infrastructure development are expected to become important priorities as India pushes forward with its AI-driven digital transformation goals.
