New Delhi, May 28: India and South Korea have agreed to establish dedicated sub-groups on digital trade and supply chain cooperation as part of ongoing discussions to upgrade the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries.

The decision reflects a shared commitment to deepen bilateral economic engagement and modernize the existing trade framework to better align with emerging global trade priorities. The upgraded discussions aim to enhance trade efficiency, strengthen resilience in supply chains, and expand cooperation in high-growth sectors.

Officials said the sub-groups will focus on key areas including digital commerce, data-driven services, advanced manufacturing linkages, and critical supply chain integration. The initiative is expected to help both countries address evolving global trade challenges while unlocking new opportunities for businesses.

The move comes amid growing economic ties between India and South Korea, with both sides emphasizing the importance of stable and diversified supply chains in sectors such as electronics, automobiles, semiconductors, and clean energy technologies.

Authorities noted that the CEPA upgrade talks are intended to expand market access, improve investment flows, and promote collaboration in innovation-led industries. Industry stakeholders from both countries are also expected to be consulted as part of the negotiation process.

The establishment of sub-groups marks a significant step forward in strengthening India–South Korea economic relations and advancing a more comprehensive and future-ready trade partnership.
