Cabinet’s decision to deploy 10,000 Electric buses across pan IndiaNew Delhi, August 18th, 2023: The ‘PM-eBus Sewa’ approved by the Union Cabinet involving an estimated cost of Rs 57,613 crore under the PPP model would take India on a greener path of economic development with public transport being a catalyst of clean air in 169 cities.

The ‘PM-eBus Sewa’ with a Central outlay of Rs 20,000 crore is a holistic scheme for making India’s urban public transport green. The best part is that the scheme not only covers an introduction of electric buses in 169 cities but also the creation of e-mobility infrastructure in 181 cities. The 10-year coverage would be a boost to the overall ecosystem for wider usage of clean energy for India’s fast-growing urbanization’, ASSOCHAM Secretary General Mr Deepak Sood said.

The ‘PM e-Bus Sewa’ as approved by the Union Cabinet envisaging creation of 45,000 – 55,000 direct jobs in over 10,000 electric buses in big cities would drive employment generation in greener areas of economic activity, Mr. Sood said.
