May 26: A strong shift in India’s global capability centre (GCC) hiring landscape is underway, with emerging cities recording a 42% rise in jobs, outpacing traditional metropolitan hubs, according to a recent report.
The findings indicate that companies are increasingly expanding beyond Tier-1 cities, driven by lower operating costs, improving infrastructure, and the availability of skilled talent in smaller urban centres.
Sectors such as IT services, finance, engineering, analytics, and back-office operations are leading this expansion, with firms setting up or scaling operations in cities outside established hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
Industry experts said this decentralisation of GCC growth is helping create new employment clusters across India, while also reducing pressure on major metro cities.
The report highlights that improved digital infrastructure, hybrid work models, and government support for regional development are key factors accelerating this trend.
Overall, the shift suggests a more distributed growth model for India’s GCC ecosystem, with emerging cities playing an increasingly important role in global enterprise operations.
