New Delhi: MDI Gurgaon, a premier management Institute held an inauguration cum orientation programme in virtual mode to welcome the participants of two programmes namely PGDM (Business Management) 18 months residential programme, and PGDM (Executive) 24 months non-residential Programme. More than 70 students have enrolled in the above-mentioned two executive programmes.
MDI has been a pioneer in the field of executive graduate programmes with its flagship programme called National Management Programme that was started in 1988. The institute is running three executive graduate programmes approved by AICTE, namely PGDM-Business Management (erstwhile NMP), PGDM-Executive (erstwhile EMP) and PGDM-Public Policy & Management in collaboration with DOPT. Other than self-sponsored candidates, the institute also accepts
company-sponsored candidates, for example, Indian Oil, Damodar Valley, Maruti Suzuki, etc. are sponsoring their employees to these programmes to develop leadership pipeline.

The orientation ceremony was conducted under the revered presence of industry stalwarts Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Director HR, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, and Shri. Manoj Agarwal, Executive Vice President, MSIL who presided over the ceremony as the Guest of Honors.
While addressing the participants, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Chakrabarti, Director, MDI Gurgaon, asserted, “The Class of 2021 comprises an eclectic mix of enthusiastic youth. The programmes at MDI are aimed at holistic development and the importance of these programmes can never be overstressed. Management education today is at a juncture. The world is changing faster than it ever has and the pace of change has dramatically increased in recent years. Technology and Geo-politics have become the key drivers. The pandemic has pushed us to digital war. I see a diverse cohort and it’s this heady mix of enthusiasm, idealism, and moderating values that catalyzes the transformation of experienced professionals into dynamic leaders”.
Sharing 3 mantras of growth and development, Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Director HR, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. said, “Students, you represent the youth of India who with great ideas will help shape India. We say change is the only constant but today change is also changing. Transformation is taking place at a great speed. The pandemic has shaken the foundation of institutions across different streams of learning. We should not forget the learnings from the pandemic and not let the crisis go to waste. In these testing times, you have to be agile, adaptable, and aligned to a purpose. The future of work is changing constantly and only these 3 mantras can help in sustaining the dynamic ecosystem”.
Giving examples of his experience at Maruti Suzuki India Pvt. Ltd. Shri Manoj Agarwal, Executive Vice President, MSIL explained the guiding principle of business. He stated, “The objective to run any business is not to maximize profit but to minimize the losses. One should always work towards creating the values.”

MDI Gurgaon has produced business leaders like K Srikant, MD Power Grid; B. Ashok former MD, Indian Oil; Parmeshwaran Iyer, IAS Chief Architect of Swach Bharat Mission; Anil Gupta, Former MD Container Corporation of India; Sanjiv Garg, MD Pipavav Rail Corporation; M.P. Mall, Former MD IRCTC – all are alumni of MDI’s NMP and now changed to PGDM-Business Management. EMP alumni are working in various private and multinational companies including Maruti, Skoda, Hyundai, Honda, Hero, Carrier, RBS, Sapient, Siemens, GE, American Express, Denso, Huawei, Google, IBM, HDFC, Philips, Samsung, Nokia, Texas Instruments, Boston Scientific, GMR, etc.
