Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology hosts lecture on Skill Development as a Focus of 21st Century Learning5th December 2023, Bangalore: Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology’s  Electronics & Communication Engineering department, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Service Research and IQAC, hosted a special lecture on “Skill Development as a Focus of 21st Century Learning”

Dr. G. Gopakumar, Former Vice Chancellor of Central University of Kerala delivered the lecture and  emphasized on  the importance of skill development in today’s rapidly changing world.  He said  “Skill has become a most important value addition in almost all spheres of life and education. Indian government’s focus on skill development has led to the establishment of hundreds of Skill Training Institutes across the country. This initiative has enabled young people to gain expertise in various areas of skills, such as Life Skills, Communication Skills, Manufacturing Skills, Time Management Skills, Soft Skills, and Negotiation Skills etc.   India is truly living in Amrit Kaal, as most of the young generation of today would see the 100th year of Independence in 2047. If today’s generation acquires required skills, it would definitely see the most prosperous India, as the SuperPower of the World.”

Dr. Jacob Kalle, Head of Southern Region of Indian Council of Social Service Research, Hyderabad, spoke about the significance of the ‘Amrit Kaal series of lectures’ launched by the Government of India. An interactive session on skill development WAS followed the lecture, with enthusiastic participation from different branches of Engineering.
