IMD Forecasts Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Across Northeast India Over Next Six Days

New Delhi, June 4: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall across several states in Northeast India over the next six days, driven by active monsoon conditions and favourable weather systems.

According to the weather agency, states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to experience intense rainfall during this period. Isolated locations may also witness extremely heavy showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The IMD has advised residents and local authorities to remain vigilant, particularly in areas vulnerable to flooding, waterlogging, landslides, and disruptions to transportation and essential services.

Officials said the active monsoon phase is expected to bring significant rainfall to the region, benefiting water resources and agriculture while also necessitating precautionary measures in disaster-prone areas.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have urged citizens to follow weather advisories and safety guidelines issued by local administrations.
