Hyderabad, March 8: Marking International Women’s Day, the fourth edition of the Purple Ride — a motorcycle rally aimed at promoting women’s preventive healthcare — was held in the city on Saturday in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals. The rally, founded by Dr. Roshan Reddy Nadikattu, brought together over 1,000 motorcyclists who rode through the city to spread awareness on the importance of early health screening and preventive care for women.

The ride began at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, and was flagged off by Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals. The rally concluded at Apollo Hospitals, Financial District, with participants wearing white T-shirts carrying the message “Healthy Women, Healthy Nation”. Addressing participants, Dr. Sangita Reddy emphasised that women often prioritise their families’ health while neglecting their own well-being. She said regular preventive screenings for heart disease, breast and cervical cancers, diabetes and anaemia are crucial, adding that early detection through routine check-ups can save lives.
Tejesvi Rao Veerepalli, Regional CEO of Apollo Hospitals for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, said the collaboration reflects the hospital group’s commitment to strengthening awareness on women’s health and preventive care. Doctors from Apollo Hospitals also interacted with riders and volunteers at the concluding venue, offering guidance on lifestyle diseases, early diagnosis and the importance of routine health check-ups. The event saw participation from members of the Deccan Moto Collective (DMC), independent riders, riding clubs, healthcare professionals and volunteers, all coming together to support the cause of women’s preventive health awareness. Over the years, Purple Ride has evolved into a multi-city initiative bringing together motorcycling communities and healthcare professionals to encourage conversations around women’s health and early screening.
