Gandhinagar, May 14: The Gujarat government has installed 665 biogas plants for tribal households living in areas around the Statue of Unity, aiming to promote clean energy use and improve rural livelihoods.
The initiative is designed to provide an eco-friendly alternative to conventional cooking fuel while reducing dependence on firewood and LPG in tribal regions.
Officials said the programme supports sustainable development goals by encouraging the use of renewable energy at the household level and helping reduce indoor air pollution.
The biogas plants are also expected to ease pressure on forest resources in surrounding tribal areas while offering families a cost-effective and cleaner energy solution.
The move is part of the state’s broader efforts to promote green energy adoption and improve quality of life in rural and tribal communities.
