Offering floral respects, the Chief Minister described Charan Singh as a leader who placed agriculture and village development at the centre of India’s growth vision. He said the former Prime Minister devoted his life to strengthening the rural economy and advancing the interests of farmers across the country.

“Today, on the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh, a great son of India, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, former Prime Minister and a true champion of farmers, I offer my heartfelt tribute on behalf of the people of the state,” Adityanath said.

He highlighted that Charan Singh played an active role in India’s freedom movement and later contributed significantly to agricultural and land reform policies. According to him, Charan Singh firmly believed that national progress is directly linked to the prosperity of villages, farms, and farmers.

The Chief Minister also noted that the ideals of Chaudhary Charan Singh continue to guide government policies focused on farmers’ welfare. He said the state government is working to preserve his legacy through several initiatives, including the development of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow.

Adityanath further mentioned that Charan Singh’s contribution to public life went beyond politics, leaving a lasting impact on rural development and India’s agricultural framework.

He also recalled that Chaudhary Charan Singh, who served as India’s fifth Prime Minister from 1979 to 1980, held key portfolios such as Home and Agriculture during his political career and remained a strong advocate for farmer-centric policies throughout his life.
