Mumbai based Edtech startup, PurpleTutor has grown in teacher capacity by 10x in the last 12 months. While the number of teachers about a year ago was just 30-40, it is about 300 at the moment. Given the unprecedented demand for the product and the service globally, the company is growing its business rapidly and intend to take the number of teachers to 3000 in a year’s time now. The startup which operates in the skill-building for kid’s segments had earlier raised money from IvyCap Ventures and other prominent investors earlier in the year.
While overall hiring has been taking place across the company to support their growth over the last 1 year, particularly teachers have been at the forefront.Gaurav Perti, Founder and CEO, PurpleTutor, said “”We are on an aggressive hiring spree, especially for teachers from a computer science background. Most of our teachers are women, and in line with the sustainability goals, with more than 60% of the teachers coming in from tier 2 cities and beyond.”
Looking forward, the company aims to expand in the North America market in the next couple of months andconsidering the demand, the company is rapidly increasing headcount across functions. The next 1 year while they expand their presence in their markets, they look to add capacity across all functions.
