New Delhi, June 07, 2023: The Government of Bihar, represented by Resident Commissioner Kundan Kumar, has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the development of Civil Enclaves at Darbhanga Airport and Purnea Airport in Bihar. The signing ceremony took place on June 05, 2023 (Monday). Prior to this, on May 30, a cabinet meeting chaired by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had approved the construction of new Civil Enclaves at both airports.
Under the terms of the MOU, the Government of Bihar will provide the AAI with 76.65 acres of land for the development of the Civil Enclave at Darbhanga Airport, free of cost and free from encumbrances on ownership basis. This includes 52.65 acres of land for the Civil Enclave and an additional 24 acres for CAT lighting.
Similarly, for the construction of the Civil Enclave at Purnea Airport, the Government of Bihar will transfer 52.18 acres of land to the AAI, also free of cost and free from encumbrances on ownership basis.
The signing of these MOUs marks a significant milestone in the development of the new Civil Enclaves at Darbhanga and Purnea Airports. With the completion of these projects, both airports will have state-of-the-art terminal buildings, providing enhanced facilities for passengers.
The construction of the new Civil Enclaves will not only bolster the infrastructure at Darbhanga and Purnea Airports but also pave the way for the commencement of air services at Purnea Airport, eliminating the existing hurdles.
The Government of Bihar remains committed to the development of the aviation sector in the state, and these agreements with the AAI are a testament to their dedication. The Civil Enclaves at Darbhanga and Purnea Airports will play a crucial role in facilitating better connectivity and fostering economic growth in the region.
