India Enters Wi-Fi 7 Era as TP-Link Starts Local Manufacturing

May 25: India has stepped into the next generation of wireless connectivity with the beginning of local manufacturing of Wi-Fi 7 devices by TP-Link in the country.

The company has started producing Wi-Fi 7-enabled equipment in India, beginning with the Omada EAP770 enterprise access point. This marks one of the early initiatives by a global networking brand to localise production of the latest Wi-Fi standard in the country.

The development follows the Department of Telecommunications’ decision to delicence the lower 6 GHz spectrum, paving the way for wider adoption of advanced wireless technologies and faster, more efficient connectivity solutions.

Industry experts say the move will support India’s growing demand for high-speed enterprise and consumer internet services, while also strengthening the domestic electronics manufacturing ecosystem.

With Wi-Fi 7 offering higher speeds, lower latency, and improved network capacity, the shift is expected to benefit businesses, smart infrastructure, and next-generation digital applications across sectors.
