Designed to empower young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and aspirational districts, the initiative will enable access to higher education, unlock their potential, and shape a brighter future.

This year, the program will award scholarships to young women from disadvantaged backgrounds, who wish to pursue higher education after grade 12, in Maharashtra. Selected students will receive financial assistance of INR 30,000 each year, covering tuition fees and other education-related expenses for the entire duration of their degree program.

P.S. Narayan, Global Head – Sustainability & ESG, Wipro Limited, and Managing Trustee, Wipro Foundation said: “We have always held that education is the primary enabler of a good society. Through this initiative, we are trying to ensure girls from disadvantaged backgrounds get equal opportunity to higher education which can offer a life-changing springboard. We are pleased to launch the Santoor Scholarship Program in Maharashtra and remain committed in our mission to support education for a more equitable and humane society”.

Neeraj Khatri, Chief Executive of Consumer Care, India and SAARC Business, at Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting further added: “Over the years, the Santoor Scholarship has grown into one of the most impactful education initiatives, opening doors for thousands of young women. By launching the Santoor Scholarship program in Maharashtra, we aim to create a strong, measurable impact locally while staying true to our vision – empowering deserving girls from underserved communities to continue their higher education and build a better future for themselves and their families.”

Since its inception in 2016–17, the Santoor Scholarship has empowered nearly 10,000 young women to pursue their academic aspirations, with a significant number coming from some of India’s aspirational districts. This is a testament to the program’s commitment to reaching the most underserved communities. In the past decade, ₹50 crore in scholarships has been disbursed, helping recipients continue their education, achieve their ambitions, and contribute meaningfully to society.

The program is open to students across a range of disciplines—60% of scholarships are earmarked for general degree courses in humanities, arts, and sciences, while 40% are allocated for professional courses such as engineering and medicine. Priority funding is also offered to students from aspirational districts of the state.

Applications are open from 01st October 2025 to 20th October 2025.
