May 25: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has entered into a technical collaboration with a UK-based unit of BP to enhance production from its western offshore oil and gas fields.
Under the agreement, BP will provide technical services and operational expertise to help optimise output from mature offshore assets, which have been witnessing natural production decline over time.
The partnership will focus on improving recovery rates through advanced reservoir management techniques, better field development strategies, and the use of global best practices in offshore production.
Officials said the collaboration is part of ONGC’s broader strategy to maximise output from existing oil and gas fields while improving efficiency and extending the productive life of ageing assets.
The initiative is expected to strengthen domestic hydrocarbon production, reduce dependence on imports, and support India’s long-term energy security goals by unlocking additional value from established offshore reserves.
