Jalandhar, Sep 28: Lovely Professional University (LPU) today reiterated that its campus is safe and that campus activities are normal.
Following the restoration of normalcy on campus, a joint meeting was held between the University administration, the civil & police administration, and student representatives. The student participants were of the unanimous view that the unrest was primarily the result of outsiders who unlawfully entered the campus with the intent to disrupt its peace. The matter is being looked into, and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with law.
For over 25 years, the well-being, aspirations and future of its students have been at the heart of LPU’s institutional purpose. The University has consistently focused on providi1ng quality education, opportunities for growth and a strong foundation for successful careers and meaningful lives. Through sustained effort, LPU has established itself as a leading institution and has contributed to the growth and transformation of higher education in Punjab.
Today, LPU brings together students from across India and around 50 countries. Safeguarding their trust, and protecting the safety, dignity and well-being of every student, remains the University’s foremost responsibility.
The University has reviewed and verified the information circulating on social media and strongly refutes the baseless and false claims. LPU also urges students, parents and the wider community to rely only on verified information and not on fake social media content.
It is deeply unfortunate that, amid heightened emotions, certain anti-social elements sought to exploit the situation, resulting in disruption and damage to University property. Such conduct has no place in the LPU community. The University is confident that appropriate action will be taken against those outside infiltrators, in accordance with law.
The response of the larger LPU student community has been overwhelmingly positive. Students spoke up on their own, refuting the false claims through their social media handles and in conversations with the media. Their response reflects the maturity and responsibility of the vast majority of the community, and their trust that the University has always stood by their interests.
LPU has also appealed to the media to exercise due care and refrain from publishing, broadcasting or amplifying information, videos or claims that have not been independently verified. Where the safety and well-being of students are concerned, responsible reporting is especially important, as unverified content can cause unnecessary anxiety among students and their families.
LPU has had the privilege of serving generations of students and their families, and of contributing to the wider cause of education and society. What has been built over this journey goes beyond a university campus: it is a relationship of trust shared among the institution, its students, parents, alumni and the wider community.
LPU remains committed to this purpose, and the University remains firmly focused on the well-being and future of its students.
