On ‘World Environment Day', Madhya Pradesh natives Shubhangi Atre, Sara Khan and Kamna Pathak speak about being environmentally conscious

In its commitment to clean India, Madhya Pradesh has been taking several steps on several environmental issues. With over seven crores in population, their efforts have brought about a change in their ecosystem. Indore and Bhopal locals and &TV artists talk more about the eco-friendly practices they have adopted in-lieu with their hometown’s advanced measures. Shubhangi Atre aka Angoori Bhabi of &TV’s BhabijiGhar Par Hai, Kamna Pathak aka Dabang Rajesh of &TV’sHappu Ki Ultan Paltan and Sara Khan, aka Devi Paulomi of &TV’sSantoshi Maa SunayeVratKathayein, share how simple efforts and small steps contribute to Ecosystem Restoration.

Shubhangi Atre, aka Angoori Bhabi, shares, “Indore’s separation of dry and wet waste is one model followed by many other cities and is also a reason why it has retained its title of being India’s cleanest city. While we feel good to be associated with a city that is so environmentally responsible, sustaining this title lifelong is within your hands. I belong to a family that believes in giving back to mother nature, and since childhood, I have been taught to waste a good use. It has stayed with me, and since then, I have started turning the leftover food into manure and utilizing it to enhance the soil quality of my kitchen garden. A compost pit provides the plants in the garden with the necessary nutrition, and in return, we are given some delicious foods. I urge everyone to do whatever they can to restore the earth, starting with simple steps like waste segregation and utilization.” Kamna Pathak, aka Dabang Rajesh, shares, “In line with this year’s World Environment Day theme of restoration, we must focus on encouraging citizens to take up means that not only benefit themselves but our earth as well. Natural resources take years to procure, and as noble residents of the planet, we must do what is best for its welfare and future generations. Being from Indore gives me a great sense of delight, knowing that my city has accomplished so much by taking such a step. Hailing from the cleanest city in India, Indore has made strides in maintaining the title for four years. Start small and win big is the motto: an individual can consciously separate the kinds of waste produced in a household and switch to a more organic form of living. Indore’s separation of waste is one model followed by many other cities and is also a reason it is one of the cleanest cities in the country.” Bhopali Sara Khan, aka Devi Paulomi of &TV’s Santoshi Maa Sunaye Vrat Kathayein, shares her contribution towards restoring the earth and its ecosystem. She shares, “In the race to stay technologically advanced, we have unknowingly caused a lot of disturbance and harm to the ecological balance; hence, we must collectively restore the damage done by promoting and practising greener methods. Bhopal is my hometown and recognized as one of the greenest cities in the country. The city is home to many reservoirs and termed the Bio-valley of India due to its clean energy practices. I do feel it is our duty as citizens to do our bit for the environment. My family and I do our bit for energy conservation by switching off lights and fans when not in use. Apart from that, we also try to plant saplings contributing to making our environment greener. Apart from this, I do feel we must focus on keeping the rivers clean, saving water, and do our bit in conserving our environment. Our planet earth is for humans and everyone, including animals and other species and organisms. This World Environment Day, let us become more environmentally conscious and adopt greener practices as a part of daily lives.”
