Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar has announced plans for a new application that will integrate all ambulance services in Kerala into a unified, Uber-modeled network, aimed at enhancing emergency response across the state. Speaking at the inauguration of a free medical camp and health awareness seminar organized by SP Medifort in Enchakkal, as part of World Diabetes Day celebrations, the Minister highlighted that the app would streamline ambulance access by combining the state’s 108 ambulance services with private ambulance operators, enabling faster and more coordinated response.

“Auto rickshaws, which are a crucial public transport resource, often reach accident sites first and assist before ambulances arrive,” Mr. Ganesh Kumar said. “It is essential that auto drivers receive basic first-aid training for these situations. SP Medifort’s initiative to equip them with essential knowledge and tools is highly commendable,” he added. The Minister distributed free medical cards and first-aid kits to auto drivers who attended.

Dr. S P Asokan, Chairman and Managing Director of SP Medifort, stated that the goal of the medical camp was to promote health awareness among auto drivers, who are constantly active on the city’s roads. Joint Chairman and Managing Director S P Subramonian emphasized SP Medifort’s dedication to providing global-standard healthcare facilities to the community through such initiatives. Also in attendance were SP Medifort Director Dr. Aathithya, Advaith A. Bala, and Balagopal, along with around 100 auto workers and their families.
