Dabugam:April 20: For the development of the Keliya Baba Jhadeshwar Temple in Dabugam of Nabarangpur district, a grant of Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund.
With the efforts of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, financial assistance of ₹50 lakh each has been provided for the development of the Jhadeshwar Temple and the Garbharau Temple in Papadahandi block.
It is worth mentioning that although the Keliya Jhadeshwar Temple has been recognized as a tourist destination, issues like lack of drinking water, electricity, and basic infrastructure had remained unresolved. For many years, local residents had been demanding its development.
An incomplete Yajna Mandap (ritual pavilion) in front of the temple has also remained unfinished for a long time.
Every year, thousands of devotees from neighboring Chhattisgarh and the undivided Koraput region visit the temple during festivals like Shivaratri, Kartik Purnima, and Bol Bam to perform Jalabhishek.
Surrounded by scenic hills and natural beauty, the Keliya temple attracts a large number of tourists annually. With this new funding, the temple’s infrastructure is expected to improve significantly, making it even more attractive to visitors.
The temple management committee has expressed gratitude to School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for sanctioning the funds. The announcement has brought great among the local residents.
