Mumbai: Following the overwhelming success of the North India Zone trials held in Ghaziabad — which witnessed the participation of 880 young shooters from across the region — the School Shooting Premier League (SSPL) is now set to make its mark in Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra Trials are scheduled for 12th and 13th November 2025 at the MLWB Shooting Range, Dadar West, Prabhadevi, Mumbai. The event will bring together talented student shooters from across the state, providing them with a national-level platform to demonstrate precision, focus, and sporting excellence.
The North India Zone trials saw enthusiastic participation from schools across Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, making it one of the largest school-level shooting events in the region. The strong turnout highlighted the rising popularity of shooting as a youth sport and reaffirmed SSPL’s mission to nurture emerging talent through structured, competitive opportunities.
With the Maharashtra leg, SSPL continues its effort to identify, encourage, and develop young shooters across India. The league aims not only to discover promising athletes but also to promote values of discipline, concentration, and sportsmanship among students.
Speaking about the upcoming trials, Deepak Srivastav, Co-founder, SSPL, said, “The enthusiasm and discipline shown by students during the North India trials have set a strong benchmark for the League. SSPL is not just a competition but a platform to give young shooters the right exposure and a pathway to pursue the sport seriously. We’re confident that Maharashtra will carry forward this momentum and inspire many more to join the sport.”
Ayush Yadav, Founder of SSPL, added, “The response from the North India Zone was phenomenal, proving that school-level sports like shooting can inspire confidence, focus, and national pride. We’re excited to bring the same energy and opportunities to Maharashtra and look forward to discovering the state’s next generation of champions.”
The Maharashtra Zone trials will feature multiple shooting disciplines, including 10m Air Rifle and 10m Air Pistol, under U-15 and U-19 categories for both boys and girls. Over 250 students are expected to participate, along with parents, coaches, sports educators, and representatives from local institutions.
Alongside the main competition, SSPL will host interactive sessions on shooting techniques, sports safety, and mental conditioning, offering participants exposure to franchise-based team selections, sponsorship opportunities, and mentorship programs.
Selected shooters from the Maharashtra trials will qualify for the Final League Round, leading up to the SSPL Main Event to be held in early 2026. These trials are part of SSPL’s pan-India expansion, with subsequent events planned in other major cities as part of its vision to build India’s largest youth shooting ecosystem.
