Udaipur, Feb 25: A critically ill 75-year-old patient suffering from severe aortic valve disease and circulatory shock was successfully stabilised and treated at Paras Health Udaipur under the leadership of Dr. Amit Khandelwal, Director & Head of Cardiology.
The patient was brought to the hospital with severe chest pain, acute breathlessness, extreme weakness, and dangerously low blood pressure. He was immediately admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where a multidisciplinary cardiac team initiated advanced life-saving treatment including ventilatory support, medications, and blood transfusions.
Detailed investigations, including echocardiography and CT-TAVI assessment, revealed a severely narrowed and calcified aortic valve restricting blood flow from the heart. After successful stabilisation and heart team evaluation, the patient underwent a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) procedure, a minimally invasive valve replacement recommended for elderly and high-surgical-risk patients.
Dr. Amit Khandelwal stated that timely diagnosis, coordinated critical care, and advanced imaging played a crucial role in saving the patient’s life.
Dr Prasun Kumar, Facility Director, added that Paras Health Udaipur continues to strengthen its advanced cardiac and structural heart services, ensuring that patients across southern Rajasthan receive world-class treatment without travelling to metro cities.
