June 10: India is well-positioned to navigate fluctuations in global crude oil prices, with the country’s energy security framework remaining robust, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Wednesday.
Addressing concerns over volatility in international oil markets, the Minister noted that India has strengthened its supply diversification strategy, expanded its crude sourcing options, and built resilient trade relationships with multiple producing nations. These measures, he said, ensure steady availability of energy supplies even during periods of global uncertainty.
Puri emphasised that India’s energy policy is guided by affordability, accessibility, and sustainability, with a continued focus on securing stable imports while accelerating the transition toward cleaner and more efficient energy sources.
He added that proactive government planning, strategic reserves, and flexible procurement systems have helped safeguard the country from sharp disruptions in global crude markets.
Reiterating confidence in India’s energy outlook, the Minister stated that the country remains prepared to handle external shocks and maintain stability in domestic energy supply despite ongoing geopolitical and market-driven volatility.
