Adani Green Expands Clean Energy Push With New Andhra Project

May 20: Adani Green Energy has announced plans to develop a massive 2,250 MW pumped storage project in Andhra Pradesh, marking another major step in the company’s clean energy expansion strategy.

The project is expected to strengthen India’s renewable energy infrastructure by helping balance power supply from solar and wind sources. Pumped storage systems play a critical role in storing excess electricity during low-demand periods and supplying power when demand rises, improving grid stability and energy reliability.

The proposed project will be developed across multiple locations in Andhra Pradesh and is likely to attract significant investment while generating employment opportunities during both construction and operational phases.

Industry experts believe large-scale energy storage projects are becoming increasingly important as India rapidly expands its renewable energy capacity. Since solar and wind energy are weather-dependent, pumped hydro storage is seen as a reliable solution for ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply.

The development is also expected to support Andhra Pradesh’s position as a growing renewable energy hub. The state has been attracting investments in green power, transmission infrastructure, and energy storage projects due to its favourable geography and policy support.

Adani Green Energy has been aggressively expanding its clean energy portfolio in recent years, with a strong focus on solar, wind, and hybrid renewable projects across the country.

Experts say investments in storage infrastructure will become a key pillar of India’s energy transition as the country moves toward ambitious clean energy and carbon reduction targets.
