Gandhinagar, May 15: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the expansion of the Madhur Dairy plant in Gujarat on May 17, a project built with an investment of ₹128 crore aimed at strengthening the state’s dairy infrastructure and production capacity.
The expanded facility is expected to enhance processing capabilities, improve supply chain efficiency, and support value-added dairy product manufacturing, contributing to the growth of the cooperative dairy sector in the region.
Officials said the upgrade will help the plant handle higher volumes of milk procurement and processing, benefiting dairy farmers associated with the cooperative network. The initiative is also expected to improve product quality standards and expand market reach for dairy products under the Madhur brand.
The expansion aligns with Gujarat’s broader focus on strengthening its dairy ecosystem, which plays a key role in rural livelihoods and farmer income generation. The state has long been recognised as a leader in India’s cooperative dairy movement.
The event is expected to be attended by senior state officials, cooperative leaders, and representatives from the dairy sector, highlighting the government’s continued emphasis on agricultural and rural development initiatives.
With this expansion, the Madhur Dairy plant is poised to further contribute to Gujarat’s position as one of the country’s leading dairy-producing states.
